    October 31, 2000 :
  • Dallas Stars goaltender Ed Belfour has plead guilty to misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest following a March scuffle with a security guard at an upscale hotel. Belfour also apologized for his actions.
  • Dallas County Criminal Court Judge sentenced Belfour to two years' probation and a $3,000 fine. He also ordered Belfour to visit two area high schools within the next two years to warn students about alcohol abuse.
  • The Montréal Canadiens have assigned Eric Fichaud and recalled Mathieu Garon from the Québec Citadelles of the AHL

    October 30, 2000 :
  • Damian Rhodes suffered a knee sprain. He will be sidelined day-to-day.
  • Byron Dafoe re-aggravated the hamstring injury he suffered on October 13. He will be sidelined indefinitely.
  • The Ottawa Senators recalled Mike Fountain from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the IHL and assigned Mathieu Chouinard to Grand Rapids.
  • The Carolina Hurricanes has recalled goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the IHL. Goaltender Arturs Irbe left the team to attend his grandmother’s funeral in Latvia.
  • The New York Rangers re-Assign Goaltender Johan Holmqvist to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL.

    October 29, 2000 :
  • The New York Rangers recalled Johan Holmqvist from the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL.
  • The Montréal Canadiens have assigned Eric Fichaud and recalled Mathieu Garon from the Québec Citadelles of the AHL

    October 28, 2000 :
  • The New York Rangers re-assigned Johan Holmqvist and Jean-François Labbé to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL.
  • The Nashville Predators will miss Mike Dunham for 2-4 weeks after suffering an injury against the Florida Panthers. Predators have recalled Chris Mason from the Milwaukee Admirals of the IHL.

    October 27, 2000 :
  • New York Rangers announced that the club has recalled goaltenders Jean-François Labbé and Johan Holmqvist from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Kirk McLean is listed as day-to-day due to back spasms, prompting the move.
  • Tomas Vokoun returned to the Nashville Predators line-up after missing three games with a bruised foot.

    October 26, 2000 :
  • The Anaheim Mighty Ducks recalled Jean-Sébastien Giguère from the Cincinnati Mighty ducks of the AHL.
  • The Minnesota Wild reassign goalie Zac Bierk to the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the IHL.

    October 25, 2000 :
  • Patrick Roy faces deportation if he's convicted of misdemeanour criminal mischief, according to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization service.
  • The Montréal Canadiens placed Jeff Hackett on the injured reserved list. Hackett broke his right hand against the Minnesota Wild.
  • The Canadiens have recalled Eric Fichaud from the Québec Citadelles

    October 24, 2000 :
  • The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender Dieter Kochan from the Detroit Vipers of the IHL.

    October 23, 2000 :
  • Patrick Roy was arrested in the morning when it was suspected he was guilty of domestic violence.
  • The police was alerted after receiving a 911 hangup call.

    October 22, 2000 :
  • Patrick Roy honored for history-making win in Denver, Colorado. Denver's mayor announced that it will be Patrick Roy's week.

    October 21, 2000 :
  • Dan Cloutier was placed on the Injured Reserve retroactive with left biceps tendonitis.

    October 19, 2000 :
  • The New York Rangers assigned goalie Jason LaBarbera to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL following the reactivation of Mike Richter on the active player roster.

    October 18, 2000 :
  • The Buffalo Sabres switched goalies with the Rochester Americans, sending Mika Noronen to the AHL and recalling Petr Skudra.

    October 17, 2000 :
  • The Minnesota Wild recalled Goalie Zac Bierk from the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the IHL.
  • The Minnesota Wild have recalled goaltender Zac Bierk from the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks
  • The Philadelphia Flyers assigned Maxim Ouellet to his junior team.
  • The Flyers think that it will be better for his developpement if he plays 70 games in the QMJHL ratter than 20 in the NHL. To replace Ouellet, the Flyers recalled Roman Cechmanek from the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL.

    October 16, 2000 :
  • Patrick Roy is named the NHL player of the week.
  • The Ottawa Senators have recalled Mathieu Chouinard from the Detroit Vipers of the IHL to fill in for injured Patrick Lalime

    October 15, 2000 :
  • Patrick Roy beats Terry Sawchuk's record for all-time wins in regular season.

    October 12, 2000 :
  • The Montréal Canadiens assigned José Théodore to the Québec Citadelles of the AHL for conditioning purpose. He's expected to play one game before comming back to Montréal.
  • The Canadiens also recalled Eric Fichaud from the Citadelles.

    October 11, 2000 :
  • The Boston Bruins activated goalie Byron Dafoe after missing one game.
  • The Bruins also assigned Kay Whitmore to the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

    October 10, 2000 :
  • The Montréal Canadiens recalled Jose Théodore from the Québec Citadelles of the AHL, assigned Mathieu Garon to Québec.
  • The Pittsburgh Penguins agreed to a contract with Garth Snow after a stint with their affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
  • They have also assigned goalies Rich Parent and Sébastien Caron to the W-B/S Penguins.
  • Olaf Kolzig returned to the Washington Capitals alignment after missing two games because of an arthroscopic knee surgery. Goalie Sébastien Charpentier have been assigned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL.
  • The Buffalo Sabres assigned Petr Skudra to the Rochester Americans.
  • The Tampa Bay Lightning assigned Evgeny Konstantinov to the Detroit Vipers of the IHL.

    October 9, 2000 :
  • The Boston Bruins recalled Kay Whitmore from the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

    October 6, 2000 :
  • The Buffalo Sabres claimed Petr Skudra from the Boston Bruins on waivers.
  • The Tampa Bay Lightning activated Kevin Weekes after missing no games with a back injury.

    October 5, 2000 :
  • Dominik Hasek sustained a knee ligament injury in the Sabres oppener and is expected to miss one week.

    October 4, 2000 :
  • The San jose Sharks assigned Mikka Kiprusoff to the Kentucky Thouroughblades of the AHL.

    October 3, 2000 :
  • The Pittsburgh Penguins signed Garth Snow to a 25-games tryout contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL. If he does well, he will replace Petr Skudra who just signed with the Boston Bruins as a free agent.
  • The Toronto Maple leafs assigned Jamie Hodson to the St.john's Maple leafs of the AHL.
  • The San Jose Sharks assigned Johan Hedberg to the Manitoba Moose of the IHL.
  • The Boston Bruins have signed free agent Petr Skudra on a one-year contract to fill in as a backup to Byron Dafoe. Skudra was named Pens rookie of the year last season.
  • The Montréal Canadiens have signed Jose Théodore to a two-year contract. Théodore will get 1 million $ this year and 1,150 million $ next season. With this contract, he will also get a bonus of 675 000$ if he wins at least 15 games, plays at least 30 games and if his stats are best or equal to last season. He will report to the Québec Citadelles for conditionning.
  • The Atlanta Thrashers assigned Scott Langkow to the Orlando Solar bears of the IHL.
  • The New York Rangers assigned Jean-François Labbé to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL.

    October 2, 2000 :
